the grace story

Grace began on Christmas Eve 2000 when a small group of people joined together to form a new church. They didn't know what this new church would be or should be, they just figured that God would lead them in due time. Naturally they assumed that it would head down a traditional church path of membership and organization, but God had other plans.

A Church For People Who Don't Go To Church
It all started on a plane. After 18 months of some pretty serious prayer, God finally spoke at 30,000 feet. Those nine words - "A Church For People Who Don't Go To Church" - were the first definitive impression from God on what Grace would be (maybe the extra height helped). Now to be honest with you, we're not exactly sure what those nine words mean. We could try to explain it, but why try. We just started putting that simple phrase on all our printed materials and on our website and people started showing up. People who had been bored by church, burned by church, or just flat out never went to church. They would say things like, "I don't go to church, so I figured this was the place for me." God had a few more surprises for Grace. Things like no membership, no offering collection, and no pressure to believe.

We focused our energy on respecting people wherever they were spiritually and doing our best to build healthy relationships. Number one is our relationship with God, and our role model for that relationship is Jesus Christ. We have so much to learn from Him. Second is our relationship with others, family, friends, co-workers, etc.. The Bible is full of great relational advice, and it is the first place that we turn.

Today Grace is a vibrant community of people from all kinds of backgrounds, beliefs and walks of life. We can't guarantee you we will have all the answers you are looking for, but we can assure you we will always respect and honor your spiritual journey, wherever you are. So whether you're just taking a peek into a relationship with Christ or you are already fully committed to Him, we warmly invite you to give Grace a try.

we believe,

the Bible to be uniquely inspired by God and the final authority on which we base our lives. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

there is one God eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - each possessing all the attributes of deity.

in the deity of Jesus Christ; in His virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood; in His bodily resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and in His personal return to earth.

that all humankind matters immensely and equally to God, and that God created humanity to be in relationship with Himself but that relationship was forever broken when sin entered our world.

that Jesus Christ voluntarily paid the price for all sin, and whosoever would repent and invite Christ to be their Savior will have eternal life. (John 3:16 & Acts 3:19)

salvation comes only through God's saving grace, not by any human effort, but is the result of repentance, confession, and faith.

that Jesus Christ is the head of the church (Colossians 1:18) and that the Holy Spirit fills the lives of those who have received Christ as their Savior and Lord (Romans 8:9). It is this filling of a person's life that enables them to live a life pleasing to God.

that one day Christ will literally return from heaven in a visible and personal way, and that this return is the hope of His church.
